Matt + Valerie: 12.01.2012 (Forepaughs Restaurant)

Well what can I say about Matt and Valerie / Zoe… it was a beautiful December day and a simplistic, classy wedding full of love in the quaint and historic Forepaughs Restaurant. It is so easy to photograph people who are so into each other – there were so many times when I just told you guys to go stand someplace and hang out and the images we captured were simply magical because of the connection you enjoy! Forepaughs was extremely challenging with tight, dark spaces and we got some cool images with video lights and Matt’s Fedora (the 2-liter of Mt. Dew even made it in there!). We hope you guys have a fabulous time up north and can’t wait to show you the rest of the images when you get back! -Judd, Josh, and Sarah

It is always fun to shoot a local wedding, especially when it is right upstairs! Jerome and Julie got married at the Loft right above our studio and what an awesome event it was! They were a fun couple to shoot with and their laid back personalities made for a really relaxing reception and some fun images. It is such and intimate setting that everyone could really feel like they were a part of the day.
As the night went on the band Uncle Chunk began their set and had the house rocking long into the night. Julie even got up on stage with the band to sing for the crowd.
Thanks Jerome and Julie, I hope you like the images and can enjoy them for years to come!

Well if there was ever a more high-octane bridal party I have never seen one.  Simply unreal and super fun: we chased squirrels (see video below, ladies), climbed loading docks, crashed Summit Ave, ran out of beer (as usual), and gnerally just had a ton of fun.

Public service announcement for amount of beer on limo/trolley/vehicle of choice for everyone out there:  with 20 people drinking, two cases of beer is gone in about 15 minutes so plan accordingly.  There is a fine line between a good buzz and having too much and having to stop to go to the bathroom.  Ben and Natalie hit it just about perfectly with 2-3 drinks per person: 2 cases of 16oz beers and 4 bottles of almond champagne.  Luckily we only had about 45 minutes to shoot in between the ceremony and reception or we would have had to make a liquor store pit stop!

Josh and I just had a great time randomly stopping by a sweet house on Summit (Thanks secret scout!) and some of my favorite images are below: awesome jellyfish bouquet, black and white class, bridesmaid flower balls, squirrel on a bike, Vikings garter, Leprechaun story where Ben dressed like one when meeting Natalie’s family for the first time, shoe trivia at the reception, Michael show Ben and Natalie the St. Paul Hotel decorated so extravagantly for the first time, Natalie doing the “George Costanza” on the couch and breaking her dress, and the string quartet playing Journey for the processional.

Ben and Natalie you guys are so great; you have so much fun together and it radiates to your friends and family. You guys genuinely offered to carry our stuff like four times – unreal! It was so fun to hang with you guys today and enjoy the images! -Judd and Josh

I feel like I could write this blog post in either 1000 words or one sentence: “LIGHT UP DANCE FLOOR.”  If you EVER have an option at your wedding (destination or not), you need to upgrade to the light up dance floor. I mean seriously if you are planning a wedding right now STOP and consider the light up dance floor. Maybe fireworks too – check out the video.

So many amazing things at this wedding: cool parents, fun people, all-inclusive bacon at breakfast, pina coladas till the cows come home, Chelsey’s favorite gin and tonics that “smell like men,” water volleyball against New Yorkers, morning after cave shoots, paying a taxi guy $150 to rule out some morning after shot locations and sleeping along the way, hermit crabs the size of our fists, Josh swimming in a cenote at dusk to figure out it stunk for pics, dodging strange meercat Mexican monkey while golfing, father/daughter dance to Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls,” re-creating the “snow umbrellas” image with Kim and Courtney, getting kicked out of the ocean at night, getting kicked out of the pool just after that, and just hanging with some super fun people for four days during our busiest time in August.

Dustin and Chelsey; if you could just get married over and over like very 3 weeks in Mexico and we could shoot it I think we would be good for life. We would totally retire happy like Jimmy Buffet. You in? -Judd and Josh
