Darren + Corrina: 05.17.2014 (Minneapolis Event Center)

So. Much. Fun!!! What a gorgeous day for two of the funniest people I have met! There was tons of laughter all day long at a beautiful venue filled with amazing details. And I almost overdosed on sugar at the incredible dessert bar… I love the shot of the rings on top of the raspberries and that is a massive scrumptious cookie in the background. I had two. 🙂

Darren and Corrina did some super cool unique stuff that I have not seen in 200+ weddings: one was they took a private carriage ride and had a picnic on it right after the ceremony over the stone arch bridge – very cool! And instead of a unity candle / sand / knot, they blended two wines together! We had some time to get some unique images around St. Anthony main including the “I finally caught a keeper” sign shot. Darren actually bought a “lure” that was specifically designed to be put in the bride’s mouth… what a thoughtful guy! And Corrina – what a trooper!! Alicia and Dayna were troopers as well carrying lots of signs and equipment throughout the day and then we got locked out of the event center for about 15 minutes because we were on foot – ha!

In the “It’s a small world” category…
1. Greg the groomsmen was my college springboard diving coach (it was a very brief (pun) and non-illustrious career but I never imagined a wedding party greeting me as Mr. Speedo!)
2. Darren’s family has connections to where I student taught – Woodstock International School in India!

Crazy! It was so fun to work with you guys and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you two – see you soon and have fun in Italy!!! – Judd, Alicia, and Dayna

Lucas + Lauren: 03.01.2014 (Ascension Episcopal Church & The Loft at Studio J)

Through wind, snow, sleet, hail, cigarettes, darts, below freezing temps, capes, and horn honks Lucas and Lauren rocked some awesome images!  This wedding was such a blast – a warm and fun event in the midst of a polar vortex.  Seriously did someone just make up that polar vortex word this year because we’ve never heard it before and it’s happened twice this year!?

Lucas and Lauren have an amazing circle of friends and family – Lucas’ circle of men spent some touching quality time just prior to the first glance and Lauren was all smiles all day!  I love the staged/candid images we got with the smokers outside of Brine’s, freezing in the alley shots and the hanging dress shots are some of my favorite dress images I have shot!  Rachel Holder rocked some awesome jazz for the dance and I loved the trivia that Lucas and Lauren had planned.  And three words: cake pop bar!!!!! 🙂

We are super pumped to have this awesome event venue in downtown Stillwater where we can shoot with such ease with a totally chill couple that was headed o St. Thomas at 4:30 the next morning – lucky you!!! 🙂 – Judd, Josh, Gabe (rockin intern), and Sarah (rockin intern)

Kyle + Sara: 01.24.2014 (Barceló Maya Palace Deluxe, Riviera Maya, Mexico)

A warm weather wedding during a polar vortex was just what the doctor ordered!  Add in snorkling, shows, karaoke, disco, mexican fog machines, coconut oil loving monkeys, sailing, massages, football, horseback riding, cenote exploring, and jockeying for the best sun at the pool area with crazy people and you have a action-packed week!!

Kyle and Sara had become great friends during the remodel of our Loft, creating the awesome high top tables around the middle columns as well as the re-purposed tin bar lights.  And then there was Sara’s bachelorette party and Cards Against Humanity shenanigans. This was only the second time we had two other brides in the bridal party which was AWESOME to have both Stephanie and Chase and Ryan and Allie to shoot with again!  Sara found a belt buckle for Kyle that said “Remington” which was the name of his dog he had for 17 years (watch the video for this moment!).  Keegan and Anna’s toasts added to the tear-jerking moments and spontaneous singing and dancing.

We used an underwater housing for our camera to get some amazing snorkeling video footage and Sara was game to buy a sweet coral dress for some epic pool pictures at 6am – LOVE them!  We love shooting destination weddings in Mexico and getting up at 6am to get images like these!

To quote my least favorite non-cliche’s all in one sentence: To be honest, not gonna lie, at the end of the day, it is was it is… best. wedding. this year!!! Maybe ever. 🙂
