Soldier Coming Home

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Memorial Day than to spend a bit of time with the Jelinek family. Steve was coming home from an eight month deployment to Afghanistan, and Josh and I were at the airport from 12-2am Friday morning capturing the emotional event. A short sleep later, Kim and Steve surprised the kids at their schools – get out your Kleenex before watching the video! -Judd and Josh

Being able to share in a tiny way in this homecoming by watching the video, is hands down for methe best part (and soggiest) of this Memorial Day! Thanks for sharing it, and more importantly Thank You to the entire Jelenik Family for all your repeated sacrifices and call to service. Many Blessings upon your family reunited!

Tim + Lisa: 5.29.2011 (Dellwood Hills Country Club)

What an incredible day! A fun fashion session with an awesome couple around some cool mansions around White Bear Lake, small family reception, and tons of kids and laughter the whole time. Tim and I used to play baseball against each other and Lisa was the first bride to every text me during the session: “you’re doing great!” just what we needed was some positive feedback. Hilarious. 🙂

There were tons of mosquitos so think you could inhale them so we did the fern shot below a few steps away from the breeding area. There were tons of tongue and cheek jokes and “that’s what she said”s from Lisa which made the day pretty funny.

Tim told me they’ve done everything in the completely wrong order: 1. baby 2. courthouse wedding 3. bachelor party 4. wedding ceremony, but I think you guys have it figured out! -Judd, Josh, and Chris

Here is the link to order prints – they will be available until August 29, 2011. The password is Lisa’s maiden name.

I am the mother of the bride, and I have to tell you that these few teasers are awesome, Lisa and Tim deserve the best and in you I feel that is what they received. Thank You for capturing their happiness.

Syd + Cinda = Engaged!

I haven’t been blogging engagement sessions this year, but had to tell this story:
So Syd calls the studio Tuesday night (Syd is Melody’s dad from her wedding to Justin last September) to schedule an engagement session for Thursday and I detected something in his voice and here’s why:
Syd and Cinda have known each other for over 25 years and have had a recent “whirlwind” courtship over the last 7 weeks, culminating in a proposal on the “Wild Thing” roller coaster at Valley Fair Thursday afternoon. That’s right, he called to schedule the engagement session 2 days BEFORE proposing! Now Syd is an actor and has never been one to shy away from theatrics. He had a t-shirt made up that said “Will You Marry Me?” and had it on under another shirt; so when the automatic roller coaster camera took the crazy “scream” picture, he opens up his shirt for the camera. He proposed when Cinda saw the picture at the booth – brilliant!

But it’s not over; Syd follows by giving Cinda a shirt of her own which says “Yes” and they rode the roller coaster again! I have a feeling the rest of their relationship will be quite a ride. 🙂 -Judd and Josh

Patrick + Kristin: 04.30.2011 (St. Ambrose and Prestwick Golf Course)

Patrick and Kristin are both Air Force pilots with call signs “Paddy O” and “Pepa” and we had a great time dodging raindrops this weekend. It was raining pretty hard during the ceremony but the sun peeked out in between for us to get some great shots at Prestwick and the fountain outside BW3’s. Kristin’s sister Amy over delivered on the clause in the contract that I wanted some m&m’s as part of the photographer rider. They turned out to be great bribes for the kids to smile. I love the image below of me telling Amy “Remember, it’s not about you” just after everyone got done signing Happy Birthday to her. This was a fun day with fabulous energy and even a sabre arch! They’ll move the chandelier next time I’m pretty sure. 🙂

We’ll post the link to all images here when they are all ready; here’s a teaser!

Wow — awesome. Thank you for capturing exactly the kind of images they hoped for when they booked with you. So many fabulous shots of K & P together; they are going to have a tough time narrowing the great ones down 🙂

I also LOVE the photos of the grandparents (will be married 67 yrs this Autumn).

Judd, you & your team have a wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing it with us!
