Josh and I were packing our gear Saturday morning and it still had sand in it from Matt and Jenn’s wedding in Mexico – awesome. Matt and Kate had a little different weather here back home in Minnesota but we still got some great shots: I LOVE the one with the light snow, umbrella, and random smoke in the background.
Kate owns her own hair salon, so the day started early there and the fun continued with lots of chuckles, side comments, and general revelry including a lengthy winter stop at Mario’s Keller Bar / Gasthaus in MPLS to warm the blood. We got some creative old west shots and speaking of shots (of which Kate doesn’t partake, ahhemm), the one you see on fire below is called a “Cinnamon Toast Crunch” which is also a great cereal. 🙂
We also did fusion video for Matt and Kate which I am SO glad so we could hear the toasts: Dusty’s recollection of Matt “borrowing” Frank’s brand new Jaguar for a quick jaunt to Valley Fair, Nicole and Andy’s barbs to Kate, and Rick’s plea for a bilateral shoulder orthoscopic procedure after holding the Russian Orthodox crowns above Matt and Kate’s heads for 18 minutes. Toughen up. Seriously glad I didn’t have to do it. 🙂 Great also to see the Rooster Baseball boys of old: Dave, Higgins, Schmidty, and Rick – that was a pleasant surprise.
The image below of Matt and the Groomsmen is in my top 3 I have taken of groups of men – love it. All links for Matt and Kate’s wedding will be posted here shortly!

Where to start?
This was just an amazing week with a really fun family trying to make sense and rebound from a snowmobiling tragedy that claimed the life if Jenn’s brother, Chris just 5 days before we were to leave for Mexico. Â Josh and I traveled up to St. Cloud for the funeral Wednesday evening and then were up at 4am Thursday morning for the flight down to Cancun and the beautiful Riviera Maya. Â The family responded beautifully to this happy occasion.
We started with a 6am “Trash the Dress” creative session on Friday at 6am and were really happy with how the images turned out; Matt and sister Tracy even jumped in for a few! Â The Josh and I taxied to Playa del Carmen to rent motorcycles to cruise around on and for Matt and Jenn’s engagement session. Â By the way, if you ever run into a Mexican named Judd Sather, it’s because I had to leave my credit card, passport, birth certificate, social security number, and first born child at the motorcycle rental shop as collateral. Â Pretty much a recipe for identity theft…
The wedding day was perfect, great weather, beautiful couple and by far the best evening of the week with a slight warm wind and iPod DJ on the beach.  There is NOTHING like eating a great meal (Crab cake wrapped in bacon and sweet potato soup) with your bare feet in the sand. 🙂
Other highlights included a spontaneous water polo game in which Nile smacked me in the surgically repaired nose, Mike and Matt doing the funny jogger dance, Pat taking one for the team and doing the George Costanza pose, and Josh sleeping on the ledge on our verada. Looking forward to doing many more destination weddings. 🙂 -Judd & Josh
